Smoking Disturbs Your Sleep

Nothing is more refreshing, lightening, or make us ready to face the day better than a good night sleep. Smoking have a huge impact on your quality of sleep due to some factors: Cigarettes have stimulants, stimulants accumulated from smoking the whole day and specially from that last cigarette stays in your system for hours and make it harder for you to fall off to sleep. Tests have shown that smokers find it far harder to fall off to sleep than non smokers and most importantly it's harder for them to have a good quality deep sleep. Also Smoking irritates your mouth, throat, and lungs causing inflammation which can make your airways smaller and make it difficult for you to breath through your nose which will disturb your sleep and will also make you far more prone to sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is when your brain pulls you out of sleep either to a lighter sleep or to full wakefulness due to lack of oxygen. The brain does that as a survival mechanism when the airflow is blocked due to swelling in the nose and throat and you can't sufficiently breath. Smokers are three times more likely to have sleep apnea than people who've never smoked. This constant disturbance in sleep is what makes you tired during the day and increases emotional distress and decreases your performance.
